How much does smart home integration cost in Surrey?
With Home Smart Surrey, smart home work starts from £150 for a few devices set up properly and from £600 for a multi-room connected home. Whole-home integration is quoted individually. The consultation is free, then it's £89 for the first hour and £65 for every hour after, with no VAT added. Travel within the core Surrey service area is included.
These are starting points, not quotes. The price of your project is set after we've seen what's installed and what you want it to do, and you get an itemised proposal before anything is committed.
What you get at each level

| Connected Home | £600 | Multi-room smart lighting and heating, solid mesh WiFi as the foundation, CCTV or smart security, and automations tailored to your routine. |
| Smart Home Pro | Price on application | Home Assistant as the overlay, fully local; whole-home integration across systems; NAS, home server and secure remote access; ongoing support and future-proofing. |

What makes a project cost more or less
- How many systems you want connected, and how they connect. Some equipment has a good local connection to Home Assistant and goes in quickly. Some, such as older or closed systems, take more time. Existing kit stays where it is, so you're paying for the connection work, not a re-fit.
- The network underneath. Smart homes depend on solid networking. A poor WiFi setup shows up as devices that respond slowly or drop out, and fixing it properly (UniFi, VLAN segmentation, tuned WiFi) is often the first job rather than an extra.
- Physical work. Wiring a relay into a gate or garage door control board, running cable, or replacing a failed CCTV recorder takes on-site time and some hardware that software alone doesn't.
- What you're inheriting. A half-finished or badly configured installation can need rebuilding into a documented, supportable state before anything new goes on top. We call this Smart Home Rescue.
- How far you want automation to go. Seeing your energy tariff and usage in Home Assistant is one job. Having the battery charge automatically on cheap rates is another.
- Hardware you need to buy. Hubs, relays, cameras and recorders are extra to labour, and we'll itemise them in the proposal.
Ongoing costs
Home Assistant itself is free, and local control doesn't need a subscription. That's one of the main reasons we build around it: you aren't paying a monthly fee to keep control of your own home, or depending on a manufacturer's cloud staying online.
One optional cost is easy remote access through Home Assistant Cloud (Nabu Casa), which was about £6.50 a month or £65 a year at the time of writing; check the current price. It's optional, and a VPN is a free alternative that takes more setup. Some manufacturers also charge for their own cloud access, so we'll flag that for your equipment before you commit.
How a project runs
- Consultation and audit. A private conversation about what's already installed, what it does well, and where it falls short of how you use the house.
- Proposal. A clear, itemised proposal: what's being connected, improved or added, and what it costs, before anything is committed to.
- Installation. Tidy work on site, tested thoroughly, with a full walkthrough of the finished system.
- Ongoing relationship. Direct access to the engineer who built it, for adjustments, additions or a question after handover.
Questions to ask any installer
- Will it run locally, or does it depend on a cloud service and a subscription?
- Is the quote itemised, and is the scope written down? Verbal extras are where disputes start.
- Who holds the admin logins, and will the system be documented so someone else could support it?
- What happens after handover, and who do I call?
- Can I start with one room or one system and add more later?
Frequently asked questions
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The consultation is free. Chargeable work is £89 for the first hour and £65 for every hour after.
Do you charge VAT?
No VAT is added to our prices.
Do your prices include travel?
Travel within the core Surrey service area is included. We cover Woking, Guildford, Reigate and the wider Surrey area.
Can I start small and add more later?
Yes. Home Assistant can be added one room or one system at a time, so the cost is proportionate to what's needed rather than a wholesale re-fit. You're never locked into more system than you need.
